About The World Health Organization (WHO)

The World Health Organization (WHO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations, established in 1948, dedicated to promoting global health and well-being. WHO is responsible for coordinating international efforts to prevent, detect, and respond to health emergencies, including pandemics, such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

The organisation works towards achieving universal health coverage, ensuring that all individuals have access to essential health services without facing financial hardship. WHO sets global health standards and guidelines, conducts research, provides technical assistance to countries, and collaborates with partners to improve health outcomes worldwide.

The organisation focuses on addressing major public health challenges, including infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases, maternal and child health, mental health, and environmental health. WHO plays a crucial role in promoting health equity and reducing health inequalities among different populations, advocating for health as a fundamental human right.

About The Junior Professional Officer (JPO)

The Junior Professional Officer (JPO) Programme offers young professionals the opportunity to gain practical experience in the field of multilateral technical cooperation early in their careers.
