ABOUT OXFAM TRAINEE SCHEME

The global landscape is undergoing a transformation, and Oxfam recognizes the necessity to adapt accordingly. To effectively address the interconnected challenges of inequality and climate change, with the most vulnerable populations bearing the brunt of these crises, we require innovative perspectives, novel concepts, and a multitude of diverse perspectives.

Oxfam seeks new thinking, fresh ideas, and varied insights to contribute to the solutions needed in this evolving world.

This paid trainee program has been structured to recruit individuals from diverse backgrounds who are eager to embark on a thrilling 15-month journey with our team. Through this program, trainees actively contribute to our efforts in eradicating poverty and alleviating suffering both within the United Kingdom and globally.

This is not a conventional graduate program, which means trainees are not required to possess a degree or other qualifications, nor do they need prior experience working for a charity. Our trainee scheme stands out for its unique selection criteria, prioritizing passion and enthusiasm for combating inequality over formal credentials and work history.

Within our Engagement, Equalities, Finance, and Impact teams, we offer trainee positions encompassing diverse projects that support various activities such as research, digital communications, data analysis, financial processing, event planning, and public engagement.

Throughout the duration of the program, trainees can expect to gain valuable insights into the operations of a large-scale aid and development organization.

They will have the opportunity to develop essential skills like:

Project management
Writing
Communication,
Research while gaining in-depth knowledge about Oxfam’s specific areas of focus.

In exchange, we encourage trainees to actively contribute their ideas, insights, and skills to our teams.

Our trainees receive remuneration above the living wage, and we strive to ensure that our recruitment process is accessible to all, irrespective of their background. Presently, we accept seven trainees annually, with placements available in Oxford, London, Manchester, or Newcastle.
