Here’s an overview of the GRI cycle, along with key dates:

April to June 2023:

Faculty members are invited to contribute to the program by submitting their research projects to Mitacs. The submission deadline for project proposals is June 8, 2023, at 1 p.m. PT, marking a crucial step for the 2024 Globalink Research Internships.

July to August 2023:

Following the submission period, Mitacs meticulously reviews the received projects. Decisions on the selection of projects are subsequently communicated to the professors. All approved projects are then made accessible to prospective student applicants through an online database.

August to September 2023:

During this phase, international students keen on participating in the program can submit their applications. From the online database of projects, they have the opportunity to choose the research endeavors that resonate with their interests.

October 2023:

Mitacs carries out an extensive eligibility review of the student applications to ensure compliance with program criteria.

November 2023 to January 2024:

This period involves the process of matching. Mitacs presents a list of student candidates who align with specific projects to the professors. The professors subsequently review the student applications, conduct interviews as necessary, and then proceed to rank the applicants based on their suitability. Mitacs then consolidates the rankings provided by both students and professors, culminating in the final offers being extended to the selected students. These results are officially announced in February.

February to April 2024:

Successful students embark on their journey by collaborating with their Canadian host professors to iron out pre-internship details. Concurrently, Mitacs orchestrates logistics and collaborates with university administrative bodies to streamline the process.

May to October 2024:

The pinnacle of the program arrives as the interns participating in the Globalink Research Internship program land in Canada. Over the course of 12 weeks, they immerse themselves in their respective research projects, working closely with their supervising professors.
